FAQ About Power Banks

A power bank — also called a portable charger or external battery pack — stores electrical energy in lithium-ion cells and recharges phones, tablets, laptops and other gadgets when no outlet is available.
mAh stands for milliampere-hour, a measure of how much energy a battery holds. The higher the number, the longer a device can run: 10,000mAh suits daily phone top-ups, while 20,000mAh and above is better for travel or laptops.
For a phone alone, 5,000–10,000mAh is enough. Charging tablets, laptops or several devices calls for 20,000mAh or more — and for laptops, output power (45W, 100W, 140W) matters more than capacity, since not every 20,000mAh bank can drive a notebook.
Most airlines allow power banks in carry-on luggage only. Units up to 100Wh are generally accepted without approval, which covers most 10,000mAh to 27,000mAh models — always confirm with your carrier before flying.
A quality power bank typically lasts three to five years. Avoid overcharging and deep discharge, top it up every few months when stored, and keep it away from extreme temperatures to preserve cell health.
