FAQ About USB Cables

Look at the connector: USB-C is a small oval that works either way up, Lightning is the flat Apple connector, and micro-USB has a trapezoid shape. The cable jacket or the connector housing is usually printed with the standard and the supported wattage.
A charging cable only carries power, while a data cable also carries the high-speed signal pairs required for file transfer and display output. UGREEN USB-C cables support both, up to 480Mbps, 10Gbps or 40Gbps depending on the model.
Any USB cable with data wires can transfer files. For phones and laptops, a USB-C to USB-C or USB-A to USB-C data cable is enough; for external SSDs and displays, choose a 10Gbps, 20Gbps or Thunderbolt-certified cable.
Check the rated wattage and data rate, feel the connector for a firm click, and run a file transfer or a power meter test. Certified cables will hold their rated speed without overheating; a cable that charges slowly or disconnects under load is usually below spec.
